10 Airsoft Tips to Get Better Fast

Want to get better at airsoft quickly? It is rarely about having the best gun. The players who stand out are the ones with good habits. Here are ten tips that will make a real difference to your next game.

The biggest upgrade is free: talk to your team and move together.

1. Communicate constantly

Call out enemy positions, your movements and your plan. A team that talks beats a team of lone wolves every time. Learn the silent version too, with our guide to airsoft hand signals.

2. Use cover properly

Stay behind solid cover, peek from different spots, and never sit still in the open. Let the cover do the work.

3. Move smart, not fast

Move from cover to cover with purpose. Sprinting blindly gets you tagged. Pick your moment, then go.

4. Listen

Footsteps, voices and the snap of BBs tell you where people are. Stop, listen, and you will avoid a lot of surprises.

5. Aim, do not spray

Controlled, aimed shots are more accurate and conserve BBs and battery. A burst of well-placed fire beats emptying a mag at nothing.

6. Play the objective

Kills feel good, but games are won on objectives. Know the mission and work toward it. See the formats in airsoft game types.

7. Stay hydrated and fuelled

You will move more than you expect. Water and snacks keep you sharp through the afternoon.

8. Check your angles

Always be aware of where you can be shot from. Cover your team’s flanks and watch the corners.

9. Learn the site

Knowing the lanes, choke points and flanking routes is a huge advantage. The more you play a site, the better you read it.

10. Keep a great attitude

Call your hits honestly, stay positive, and help newer players. A good sport is welcome on any team, and it makes the day better for everyone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get better at airsoft?

Focus on communication, using cover, smart movement and playing the objective, rather than on buying a better gun. Good habits improve your game faster than kit.

What is the most important airsoft skill?

Communication. A team that shares information and works together will beat individuals nearly every time.

Do I need an expensive gun to do well?

No. A reliable, in-limit gun and good habits beat expensive kit used poorly. Spend on reliable eye protection and good BBs first.
