Description
Storyline:
Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, large numbers of NATO forces have been deployed throughout north-eastern Poland, reinforcing the alliance’s eastern flank along the border with the Russian oblast of Kaliningrad. Tensions in the region have remained extremely high, but the situation escalated dramatically following an incident involving a group of illegal migrants attempting to breach the Polish border. During the attempted crossing, Polish border guards opened fire on the migrants. Unknown to the Polish personnel, Russian border guards were positioned nearby on the opposite side of the border. Several Polish rounds struck dangerously close to their positions, prompting the Russian guards to return fire. What began as a chaotic border incident quickly developed into a wider confrontation.
Over the following 24 hours, numerous engagements broke out along the border with Kaliningrad as Polish and Russian forces exchanged fire at several locations. Reinforcements have been moved forward and both sides have placed their forces on heightened alert. Despite the growing number of clashes, neither Russia nor NATO has formally declared war. With the situation rapidly deteriorating, Russia and Belarus have attempted to gain the upper hand by dispatching a small advanced force from the Brest region across the Polish border. Their objective is the strategically important Polish airbase at Biała Podlaska. Capturing the installation would severely diminish NATO’s ability to counter or disrupt a larger Russian offensive into Poland.
With enemy forces already advancing toward the airbase and the wider political situation hanging in the balance, NATO command has ordered a small Task Force to deploy immediately to Biała Podlaska. Their mission is to reinforce the Polish defenders, secure the airbase and repel the advancing Russian-Belarusian force before it can establish control of the installation. The Task Force must hold the base and prevent its capture while the rest of NATO prepares for the possibility that the border clashes are about to become something far larger. War has not been declared, yet.
